DESCRIPTION
AR Contracting Services have completed stages 1 to 5 of the residential subdivision at Amblemead, Mount Barker.
The project was set on a greenfield site on the side of a steep embankment which presented AR Contracting Services with a number of challenges to manage and maintain the environment on and around the site during an extremely wet winter. A Soil Erosion Drainage Management Plan (SEDMP) was implemented with input from the EPA, Mount Barker Council and local residents to manage the stormwater runoff; this was particularly important prior to construction of the two detention basins. The measures put in place included the use of silt fences, haybale sediment barriers and cut off drains.
CHALLENGE
The scope of work included building a bio-filtration pond, sediment bed, installation of a gross pollutant trap, stormwater culverts, construction of gabion walls and coordinating landscaping works. In addition, an intersection was built into the development at Sims Road which required linking into existing services (water, sewer and common services).
